What is the Germination Festival?

The Germination Festival is an annual music and art festival held in Harmony, Maine. Every May, people come together at Freedom Field in Harmony for live music, artistic displays, good food, and to experience a strong sense of community.

The festival was brought to life to celebrate sustainability and community through entertainment that all could appreciate and a shared desire to connect with people and nature. Every year, the event attracts people from all over New England and beyond for a weekend of great music, good food, and tons of fun.

When and Where Is the 2024 Germination Festival?

This year’s Germination Festival is scheduled to take place from Thursday, May 16th, at 1 pm to Sunday, May 19th, at 4 pm. The Festival takes place in Harmony, Maine at Freedom Field on 75 Carson Hill Road. (Need Directions?)

Freedom Field is part of the Carson Hill Outdoor Recreation and Entertainment area. The area offers a main stage to host live entertainment. However, there are also several cabins and primitive campsites on the property that can be booked in advance if you plan to stay for the weekend and want to stay close to the festivities.

This year’s headlining act at the Germination Festival is Melvin Seals and the Jerry Garcia Band. Other artists scheduled to perform include:

While music may take center stage at the Germination Festival, there’s definitely more to enjoy. Local artists often offer entertaining displays for guests to watch. For example, you may get to watch performance artists dance with fire, listen to poetry being read aloud by the writer, and even get a peek at a painter bringing fascinating works to life. Several arts and crafts vendors also make their way to the event.

The food at the Germination Festival is all about keeping guests well-fed and nourished during their visit. Many of the food trucks on site are eateries that offer fresh, organic, and locally sourced ingredients. Several cannabis brands also set up booths at the event to host meet-and-greets with customers and talk about their best products.

Things to Know About the Germination Festival

How much are tickets for the Germination Festival?

Ticket prices for the Germination Festival vary depending on whether you want to visit for one day or get admission for the entire weekend. General admission for the full weekend is $134.18, while day passes on Friday or Saturday are around $90. If you can only make it on Thursday, the day pass is the cheapest, at $56.68.

You can also purchase special VIP Drop-in tickets that come with everything you need to spend the weekend at Freedom Field. These special tickets cost roughly $1100 each, but they even come with wood, ice, a tent, and transportation to and from the airport in either Portland or Bangor, ME.

Are dogs allowed at the Germination Festival?

Dogs are allowed at the festival, but they must be kept leashed, you are responsible for cleaning up after your pooch, and there is a small dog fee in addition to your ticket cost. The fee for bringing your dog is $23.47.

Will there be showers and restrooms available?

If you reserve a camping spot, the showers are available at Freedom Field for guests for a small fee. Porta-potties are available in various locations at the event.
